When to Visit

Kylemore abbey has something to offer everyone all year round; with thousands of visitors every year we're one of Ireland's most popular tourist attractions.

The Visitor Centre, Abbey and Church are open to visitors from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm, the Victorian Walled Garden from 10.00 am until 4.30 pm

The Victorian Walled Garden is open all year round.

Driving From Galway

Distance 80kms / Driving Time 1hr 10min

Take the N59 for Clifden and continue through Oughterard and Maam Cross until you pass through Recess. Turn right on the R344 signposted Letterfrack. This will bring you through the Inagh Valley and then you will turn left on to the N59 loop for Kylemore and follow the road as it winds around the lake until you reach Kylemore Abbey on your right hand side.

Driving From Clifden

Distance 20kms / Driving Time 25min

Take the N59 for Westport and continue past the entrance to Connemara National Park, through Letterfrack village and Kylemore Abbey will be on your left hand side.

Driving From Westport

Distance 50kms/ Driving Time 50min

Take the N59 for Clifden. You will pass through Leenaun and then Killary Harbour before winding along Kylemore Lake and Kyelmore Abbey will be on your right hand side. (Alternate route possible via Croagh Patrick and Louisburgh).
