Introduction

Our Visitor Centre welcomes visitors from across the globe on a daily basis. Staff here are trained to direct and advise regarding the various features of the visit, while also issuing information leaflets.

 

In the A.V. Room, attached to the Visitor Centre, visitors get a sense of the history of Kylemore Abbey & Garden while viewing the twelve-minute video which is available in three languages.

Visitor Centre staff are also trained to answer the many questions put to them regarding the Community, School, statue on the hill, Fisheries etc. In addition, they will provide information on local accommodation, restaurants, transport and other local amenities.

The Restaurant

Irish StewThe 200-seat self-service Mitchell Henry Restaurant boasts delicious traditional dishes from Ireland (Irish stew, Beef and Guinness Casserole) and some with our own twist to compliment your Kylemore experience.

Fresh ingredients from the Kitchen Garden of our recently restored 6-acre Victorian Walled Garden are used in our daily menus. Our freshly baked fruit scones are known across the globe, as are our homemade soups, crusty brown bread and the all-time favourite- Apple Pie.

So, whether your visit includes Morning Coffee and scones, lunch or afternoon tea our restaurant has something for everyone.

The Craft and Retail Shop

Craft ShopThe Craft and Retail shop at Kylemore is known worldwide, stocking a unique range of goods to satisfy every taste.

Shoppers can visit our Pottery Studio where they are able to see our Kylemore Abbey Pottery being made. Kylemore’s famous homemade jams, using tried and tested recipes from the nuns, are always a big hit with our shoppers.

As well as our own hand-made Pottery and Jams, Kylemore boasts a unique range of goods, to suit every budget .

The Craft and Retail Shop has always being associated with quality. Whether you are looking for jewellery or pottery, fashion or religious items, knitwear or crystal, souvenirs or gifts, you will not be disappointed.

Proceeds from the Craft and Retail shop go towards the upkeep of the Benedictine community at Kylemore and the continuing restoration of the Abbey, neo-Gothic Church and Victorian Walled Garden.
