The magical Connamara Bog Week will take place from May 29th to June 6th this year. The long running festival is an eclectic mix of family fun, traditional music, poetry, art and ecology. The Benedictine Community of Kylemore Abbey have made the neo-Gothic Church at Kylemore available to the festival over the last few years as a venue for musical performances. This year Kylemore will host a total of three concerts as part of the festivities. On Sunday, 29th May ‘Bright Sparks’, featuring local soprano Annabella Lydon and several young contemporary folk artists, will perform at 8pm providing a great opportunity to support up and coming young talent in this truly beautiful setting. Saturday June 4th will see the Albeiz trio featuring Laoise Kelly on harp, Cormac Breathnach on low whistles and Tola Custy on fiddle perform at 8.00pm. The final concert in the series will take place (also at 8.00pm) on Sunday June 5th and will feature well known traditional musician Mairtín O’Connor and his family. Please remember that this is a truly intimate space with seating for 70, so booking is essential via the festival website www.ceec.org.
