Autumn Opening Hours

As the days get shorter we are slightly reducing our visiting hours with a closing time of 5.30 pm rather than 6.00 pm. This time applies to our Visitor Centre, Cafe and Craft and Design Shop so you still have plenty of time to come and enjoy Kylemore as the autumnal colours settle their autumn cloak over Connemara. We will have music in the neo-Gothic Church every Saturday and Sunday throughout October and November and our wonderful Traditional Halloween Event will take place on October 27th.

Weekend Music in the neo Gothic Church at Kylemore abbey

Enjoy a musical weekend at Kylemore Abbey with beautiful performances of traditional and classical music scheduled for every Saturday and Sunday throughout September and October. Join Irish Harpist Lynn Saoirse on Saturdays at 2.30 pm and brother and sister duo James and Isabelle Ruddy for traditional music on Sundays also at 2.30 pm. Met Éireann issues wind and rain warnings as Hurricane Lorenzo approaches

As a precaution due to the adverse weather conditions forecast for tomorrow evening, Thursday 3rd of October and the early hours of Friday the 4th of October, Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden will close at the earlier time of 4 pm on Thursday afternoon and will not reopen until 11 am on Friday morning. We advise the public not to travel during the hours of the weather warning and to avoid any unnecessary risks. We have to take special care on the Kylemore estate because of the risk of falling trees and branches in our mature woodland. In the case of power outage on Friday the estate will remain closed until further notice. If in doubt please call our bookings office for updates on 095 52001.

Heart Health Day Sunday 29th at Kylemore Abbey

Join us in Mitchell’s Café today for Heart-Healthy Food, Health information and an opportunity to speak to the Croí experts and have your blood pressure and pulse checked. The Abbey will be lit up in red again tonight to remind us all to love our hearts and be our own Heart Heroes!!

September Music in the neo-Gothic Church

Join us in the neo-Gothic Church throughout September for wonderful music in a magical location. Lynn Saoirse performs Irish Harp every Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm. Singer, Songwriter, Eileen Keane will perform a selection of traditional and contemporary songs on Sunday the 8th at 3 pm. James and Isabelle Ruddy will perform a set of traditional Irish Music on the Sundays of the 15th and 29th of September. Please note as of yet we do not have a performance scheduled for Sunday 22nd but we will post if we fill that date. All performances are included in cost of your ticket to the Kylemore estate and free to those on a complimentary visit.

Sunday Afternoon Music in the Gothic Church

Join us throughout August and September for Sunday Afternoon Music in the neo-Gothic Church with brother and sister duo, James & Isabelle Ruddy. James and Isabelle are multi-instrumentalists who between them play Irish Harp, Button Accordion, Concertina, and piano. Join them in the beautiful surroundings of the neo-Gothic Church for a selection of Irish Traditional pieces perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. The concert is included in the cost of your ticket to visit Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled garden.

Free Behind The Scenes Tours

Next Thursday, August 1st we will be launching a series of Behind the Scenes Tours which will be free to Kylemore Abbey Ticket holders. The tours which will run four times day will  take visitors to our on site Soap Room, Chocolate Kitchen and Pottery Studio. This will be a fascinating opportunity to see where and how our unique handmade products are made and to learn about the Benedictine tradition of innovation and creativity.  The tours will run Monday to Friday throughout August and places will be strictly limited so registration at the Visitor Centre on arrival is essential to secure your place.  Tours will take place at 11am, 12pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Extended Summer Opening Hours for July and August

We are glad to announce that our extended summer opening hours begin from Monday July 8th and will continue until the end of August.

Our opening hours are now as follows:

Visitor Centre & Admission to the Estate:
Every Day 9.00 am – 7.00 pm

The shuttle bus runs from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm

Last shuttle from the Garden to the Visitor Centre is at 6.50 pm

Garden closes at 6.45 pm
