Gospel Reflection for the Second Sunday of Lent, Year B.

gothic 029
I will walk in the presence of the Lord,
In the land of the living. Psalm 115

It would be nice to have a Transfiguration experience in our lives. To have a glimpse of heaven and experience its ecstatic joys here and now in this life so as to give  new impetus to our Lenten observance. But there is a catch. Jesus favoured his three special disciples with this privilege as a means of strengthening their faith. These were the disciples who saw him undergo his passion and crucifixion. when all traces of his divinity and glory were totally obscured and evil had, seemingly, triumphed.
Unlike Peter, James and John, we do not have our faith tested as they did, although everyday life is test enough for anyone's faith, we know the end of the story. We have the hope of Christ's Resurrection  so that we do not have to wonder what  rising from the dead. could mean. Christ is Risen. He is with us now and forever. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, forever. Praise Him.
