Or treat yourself or a loved one to an iconic piece of Kylemore – The Fuchsia pottery. Inspired by the wild Fuchsia flower known in Gaelic as "Deóra De – Tears of God" which grows in abundance on the roadsides of Connemara. The current design was created by ceramic artist Debbie Watkins, who took over management of the pottery for some years in the 1990s. This design has become extremely well loved and is emblematic of the Connemara countryside.
Each piece is individually handcrafted and decorated in our onsite studio so that it is both exquisite and personal – a product of the love and devotion that the Benedictine nuns have given to their lives at Kylemore Abbey.
Kylemore Abbey Potterey was founded by the Benedictine nuns in 1973 and continues to be cherished by owners from all over the world, including First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, who was presented with a hamper of Kylemore Abbey Pottery as a Saint Patrick's day gift on behalf of the Irish nation.
