Kylemore Abbey Win Sustainability Award at Galway Chamber Awards
The Benedictine Nuns, Management, and Staff at Kylemore Abbey are thrilled to have won the Galway Chamber Business Awards inaugural Sustainability Initiative Award at it's 2021 award ceremony held on March 31st in The Salthill Hotel.
The award recognizes the past few years efforts to make the Kylemore estate more sustainable and to protect it's biodiversity. From initiatives such as our biodiversity and sustainability partnership with NUI Galway, to the electrification of the fleet, extensive rhododendron clearing, educational signage being added throughout the estate, and much much more, the effort from the entire team has been colossal and it's recognition is hugely appreciated.
Special acknowledgement must be given to all of the winners and nominees on the night of their respective categories, particularly our fellow sustainability nominees, Bus Eireann and the Clayton Hotel Group who are both leading the way in their fields with incredible sustainability initiatives.
The work doesn't stop there for our Green Team led by our Woodland Specialist Inez Streefkerk, Head Gardener Anja Gohlke, estate Foreman Padraic Kenny, and all of the garden and grounds team in Kylemore. By Monday morning work was once again underway to further the sustainability throughout the estate. we look forward to bringing you even more updates of how this progresses in the coming weeks, months, and years.
