Gospel Reflection for the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B.
By The Benedictine Community
Our eyes are fixed on the Lord,
pleading for his mercy. (Psalm 122)
Modern technology dazzles us with so many marvels that miracles become commonplace in our lives. Not so with the people in Nazareth when Jesus lived among them. They were well aware of the messianic miracles he worked: 'the lame walked, the deaf heard, the blind saw and the poor had the Good News preached to them' Yet they would not believe that a man of God was among them.
We long to sit at His feet, to hear His voice, to have His gaze fixed upon us. We yearn for more light, more truth, more faith and the cry of our heart is: Lord, I believe, help the little faith I have! .
Yet, we are strengthened by His grace in our lives. When we count our blessings with love and gratitude we can take heart and know that He is with us, that as he said to Saint Paul:' My grace is sufficient for you, my power is at its best in weakness.' Jesus lives, alleluia!
