God mounts his throne with shouts of joy; 
a blare of trumpets for the Lord.. (Psalm 46)

Mark's account of Jesus' Ascension into heaven is brief and powerful, written as it was nearer the actual event than other accounts.  Typically, Mark dispenses with descriptions and concentrates on Jesus' parting words to the Eleven. We are reminded of a military General instructing his troops, except that Mark gives Jesus' divinity as Lord and Saviour full recognition. 
We can read these words as spoken to us personally by Jesus who now transcends our human time and space. . We must not dismiss the wonderful signs associated with believers as fantasy because the age of Gospel miracles never passes.
Jesus has not left us but replaced his human presence with a still deeper and more powerful one: he lives within us, among us, the same yesterday, today and forever...
